The meeting brought together Environment Minister Pierre Hélé, who will lead Cameroon’s delegation, British High Commissioner Matt Woods and Turkish Ambassador Volkan Öskiper, ahead of the November 9–20 summit in Antalya, Turkey.
Discussions centred on climate financing, environmental protection and international cooperation. Minister Pierre Hélé stressed the need for climate finance to reach affected communities and translate into tangible action on the ground.

He also underscored the importance of collective efforts in addressing biodiversity loss, pollution and climate change.
British High Commissioner Matt Woods reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Cameroon through improved environmental regulations, access to carbon markets, sustainable agricultural practices and wood traceability. He expressed hope for positive outcomes for Cameroon during the upcoming negotiations.

Turkish Ambassador Volkan Öskiper presented the ten priority areas of Turkey’s COP31 Presidency, covering clean energy, waste management, green industrialisation, climate-resilient cities, financing, youth education, food security, oceans, coordinated environmental action and resilient health systems.
Among the proposed initiatives are the “35 by 35” Global Electrification Pledge, the Climate Implementation Bridge developed with UNDP to connect climate projects with financing, and programmes to strengthen urban resilience and food security.

The Yaoundé meeting provides an opportunity for Cameroon and its partners to align expectations and strengthen cooperation ahead of the Antalya summit.
