He was welcomed at the foot of the plane by Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute at the behest of the President of the Republic.
Pope Leo XIV kissed soil of Cameroon immediately as he touched down. Two little children, Victoria and Lucas offered a bouquet of flowers with woods of welcome to the Pope in French and English.

The Pope and the Prime Minister honoured the anthems of Cameroon and the Vatican State before reviewing the guard of honour at the airport.
The Pope proceeded to shake hands with the college of Bishops and of personality that had turned out to welcome the Holy Father.
After brief Airport discussions with the Prime Minister, Pope Leo XIV emerged from the Presidential lounge and was greeted by cheers of joy and excitement from the crowds of Christians who had gathered at the Airport.
The Pope proceeded to commune with the Christians. From his vehicle, the Pope blessed the Christians most of whom jumped in celebrations after their first encounter with their Holy Father.
Christian lined up alongside the streets from the Airport till the Unity Palace chanting various welcome songs as the Pope’s motorcade drove pass head to the Unity Palace where he was scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
