#TotalEnergiesAFCON2025: Cameroon in Group F alongside defending champions, Cote D’Ivoire

The 2017 AFCON winners and host of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon will confront reigning Champions of the AFCON, Cote D’ivoire, Central African state Gabon and Mozambique in Group F at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco 


The Draw ceremony took place later this Monday, January 27, 2027 at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat in the presence of the President of CAF , Patrice Motsepe and football actors in the world and the continent plus football legends across the board 

Cameroon ranked 49th by FIFA and winner of the 2017 AFCON hosted by Gabon counts eight outings at the FIFA World Cup, highest in the continent and her most recent in 2022 in Qatar 

The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire, historic host and winner of the 2023 AFCON is ranked 46th best footballing nation in the World. The West African team is amongst the highest participating countries in the continental tournament, her outing in Morocco will be the 26th so far , the first in 1965

Cote D’Ivoire will be coming to the North African country of Morocco with the pressure to reserve her title and keep the prestigious trophy. Football books keep that the team keeps a record of three participations at the World Cup and three prestigious titles of the continental football tournament, the AFCON

The Panthers of Gabon are ranked 84th according to FIFA. Her best results at the AFCON dates back  1996 and 2012 when the team reached the quarterfinals of the continental football jamboree

Gabon is back for the 9th time and stages her comeback after absence in Cote D’ivoire in 2023. The team lastly participated  at the 2017 AFCON at home and has never took part at the World Cup

 Mozambique is making her 6th  appearance at the AFCON with all her journeys that ended at the Group Stage of the Continental Championship

Accordingly, Cameroon opens her group journey with Cote D’ivoire on December 24, 2025

The host, Morocco, top ranked in the continent is in Group A alongside Mali, Zambia and Comoros. Accordingly many consider this group and Group F hosting Cameroon as the two groups of death at the 2025 AFCON

Egypt most capped team in the continent and 7-time AFCON winner is lodged alongside South Africa while Nigeria will clash with Tunisia , and 2021 winners Senegal will face off DRC, Benin and Botswana
