On January 16, 2025, the Circle of friends of Cameroon CERAC) held its 31st General Assembly, celebrating three decades of humanitarian efforts dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged. Under the esteemed patronage of Chantal Biya, the founding president of CERAC, the event provided a platform to reflect on the organization’s achievements in 2024.
Overcoming Challenges
CERAC demonstrated remarkable resilience by successfully implementing 75% of its planned projects in 2024—seven out of eleven initiatives across six regions of Cameroon. This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of its members and the effectiveness of their efforts. The organization has tackled a wide array of issues, including women’s rights, HIV/AIDS, the rights of the elderly and children, sickle cell disease, leprosy, and malaria. Concrete projects have significantly improved the lives of thousands, especially in areas where social impact is most needed.
Honoring Legacy
Before celebrating their accomplishments, CERAC members paused for a moment of silence to honor the late Haman Adama, Olive Amba Salla, Habissou Bidoung Mkpatt, Honorée Denise Epee, and Monique Kodock—dynamic women who left a lasting mark on the organization’s history.
A Heartfelt Gesture
A particularly moving highlight of the day was the presentation of gifts to 22 orphaned children affected by the Dschang cliff tragedy. These young survivors, symbols of resilience, received crucial support from CERAC, reflecting the compassion and solidarity that define the organization.
A Festive Conclusion
To cap off this emotionally charged day, a vibrant celebration unfolded. Some of Cameroon’s most celebrated artists graced the stage, including Prince Aimé, the Grand Chœur Classique classic choir of the Cathedral, François Misse Ngoh, Stanley Enow, Lucky+2, Annie Anzouer, Toto Guillaume, and Kinda Klara. The evening culminated in the presentation of a magnificent birthday cake, a symbol of the years of dedication from CERAC’s members.
In commemorating this pearl anniversary, CERAC is committed to continuing its mission to support the most vulnerable while strengthening partnerships, innovating projects, and adapting to new challenges. The members are determined to position CERAC as a pivotal player in social development throughout Cameroon.
