David Abouem À Tchoyi, a distinguished Cameroonian statesman, has passed away at the age of 81, on January 15, 2025, in Yaoundé. This remarkable individual would have celebrated his 81st birthday on the same day.

He pursued secondary studies at the Evangelical College of Libamba from 1957 to 1964 and later earned a law degree from the University of Yaoundé in 1967. Additionally, he graduated from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) in 1969 and the International Institute of Public Administration (IIAP) in Paris.

Throughout his illustrious career, Abouem À Tchoyi held various prominent positions, including:

– Secretary-General of the Ministry of Planning and Regional Development

– Secretary-General of the Ministry of Economy and Planning

– Secretary-General of the Prime Minister’s Services in 1975

– Governor of the North-West and South-West regions

– Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic in 1984

As a member of the National Commission for Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, Abouem À Tchoyi played a crucial role in addressing the sociopolitical crisis affecting the South-West and North-West regions. Those who knew him, like Prof. Jean Marie Bodo, described him as a humble and admirable individual. His passing is a significant loss for Cameroon’s high administration.
