Member of the diplomatic corps accredited to Yaounde and members of the National constituted corps have extend best wishes to the President of the Republic during a ceremony at the Unity Palace this Friday January 10, 2024.
The traditional New Year wishes ceremony saw the Ambassador of Morocco in his capacity as Dean of the Diplomatic corps present best wishes of health and prosperity to the Head of State on behalf of the international community represented in Cameroon.
President Paul Biya in return extended best wishes to the diplomats after highlighting Cameroon’s stance on international issues. The President highlighted the need for a more peaceful world where measures are taken to curb climate change and where Africa is given its rightful place at the United Nations organisation.
He also expressed gratitude to the international community for supporting Cameroon’s candidature to the presidency of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.
After receiving New Year wishes from the diplomatic corps accredited to Yaounde at the diplomatic salon of the Unity Palace, the President of the Republic moved to the banquet hall to receive New Year wishes from the National Constituted corps.
The Bureau of the Senate was the first in line in shake hands with the President of the Republic, followed by the National Assembly, and the constitutional Council and Economic and Social Council. After the structures of the Legislative and Judicial arms of government came the Members of government led by the Prime Minister – Head of Government.
Representatives of the defence and security forces were also part of the event with delegations lead by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence and the Delegate General of National Security respectively.
Other state structures as local elected executive members also cued up to extended best wishes to the Head of State.
Roving Ambassadors, business magnets and other guests of the President of the Republic were present in the banquet hall to extend their best wishes.
At the close to the handshakes, the President of the Republic communed with the cross section of Cameroonians who had been invited to the Unity Palace for the 2025 New Year Wishes ceremony.
