59th Youth Day: National Youth Camp and Other Activities Projected

The 59th edition of the Youth Day to be observed on 11th February 2025 will include a National Youth Camp amongst other innovations.

This was annoucned today, 4th December 2024 as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, chaired the first preparatory meeting ahead of the day.

Other innovations for this edition of the Youth Day include a Youth Parliament, a theme for each of the eleven days in build-up to the D-Day.

Open door days for structures promoting youth empowerment have also been earmarked as well as training sessions on volunteerism and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, sensitization on digital citizenship will also take centre stage and the institution of more awards for outstanding youth.

The meeting was venue to bring together actors from different ministerial departments to the drawing board to draw up a plan of activities in build-up to the day.

After listening to participants present proposals on what could be done to make the celebration grand, the Minister of Youth Affairs called on all to put hands on deck and work.

He also called on his team to make sure those in the local communities are fully involved in commemorative activities.

Finally, Minister Mounouna Foutsou lauded the Diaspora for their involvement in the past and called for even more commitment this time around.

With these instructions, the Minister adjourned the meeting, calling on all to get to work and be ready with a well documented report at the next meeting.
