The Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) recently held a heartfelt event, “Souvenir Days,” from November 22-25, 2024, to commemorate the sacrifices of fallen heroes. The event paid special tribute to Colonel Avi Sivan Abraham, one of the esteemed founders of the battalion.

A Day of Activities and Reflection

The event kicked off with a sports walk that fostered camaraderie among participants while promoting health and wellness. This was followed by an ecumenical service, where attendees gathered to reflect on the lives and legacies of those who have served. A friendly football match brought together BIR personnel and community members in a spirit of unity and fun.

Outreach to Orphanages

The BIR’s outreach efforts were a significant aspect of Souvenir Days. They visited the Orphelinat de Notre Dame du Pilier de la Paix, delivering essential food items and hygiene supplies. The battalion also officially handed over completed renovation works on the front door of the orphanage, ensuring protection from the elements.

The BIR reached out to the *Twilight of Hope Foundation*, meeting with 15 orphans and providing a much-needed *gift of a toilet and drying line*, along with food supplies, to enhance the living conditions of the children.

Support for Local Schools

The BIR visited two primary schools in the Centre region: the Government Primary School Ekali and the Government Primary and Nursery School Nyom II. These visits underscored the battalion’s dedication to supporting local communities and fostering a brighter future for the youth.

According to Captain Mandoumbi, who headed the organizing committee for Journée Souvenir Helios – RASS – BIR 2024, “This day is not only about remembering our fallen heroes but also about giving back to the community they served. Through these activities, we honor their legacy and continue their mission of service.”

The Souvenir Days event exemplified the spirit of community, remembrance, and support, ensuring that the sacrifices of heroes like Colonel Avi Sivan Abraham are never forgotten.
