Orphans and widows as well as young people pursuing training in agriculture at the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Management of Obala in the Lekie division of the Centre region have received huge support from the First Lady’s Circle of Friends of Cameroon, CERAC.
Handing the donation of school supplies, food and farming equipment, the representative of the First Lady, Marguerite Mbella Mbella reiterated Mrs Chantal Biya’s commitment to remain a key player in the promotion of agriculture and social inclusion in Cameroon.
Located about 40 kilometres from Yaounde, Obala known for its fertile lands serves primarily as a local trade centre that is vital for its surrounding agricultural communities.
Among them students of the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Management whom the First Lady’s CERAC had come to support.
The young and passionate students received the farming tools and equipment with delight.
School, food and household supplies as well as more farm inputs and maintenance tools from Mrs Chantal Biya were also handed to orphans and widows of the Saint Pierre Orphanage in Obala, managed by Juliette Bilobi.
While reiterating the First Lady’s commitment to assist the needy and remain a key actor in building a more equitable and inclusive society, Marguerite Mbella Mbella who represented First Lady Mrs Chantal Biya on the occasion also expressed a wish that the young farmers of Obala become a source of inspiration to their peers.
It was a heartwarming moment for the beneficiaries and members of the diplomatic wing of CERAC accompanied by the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea who then visited a special exhibition stand where Made in Cameroon products were showcased.
The exhibitors showcased mushroom biscuits, cassava chips as well as decorative traditional hand made objects and more which the CERAC ladies all purchased.
