The African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 took a crucial step forward on October 9 as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the draw for the qualifiers. Next February 2025, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will jointly host the tournament, featuring national teams comprised exclusively of players from their domestic leagues.

Southern Africa (Cosafa Zone): Surprises and Opt-Outs
South Africa and Comoros have withdrawn from the competition. Meanwhile, Angola and Madagascar received exemptions from the first qualifying round. Zimbabwe will face E-Swatini, while Lesotho takes on Namibia in promising matchups.

Central and East Africa (Cecafa Zone)

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, as host countries, will participate in the qualifications. However, only one additional team will join them. CAF has yet to disclose further details, fueling anticipation.

Qualification Schedule for the Competition

– First round: October 25 to 27 (First Leg) and November 1-3 (2nd Leg)
– Second round: December 20 to 22 (first leg) and December 27 to 29 (2nd Leg)
