Response to health Challenges: Cameroon and WHO Concert

The government of Cameroon and The World Health Organisation are drawing up strategies to strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to widespread health challenges.

The Prime Minister Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute held a meeting with the visiting Deputy Director General of The World Health Organization, Chikwe Ihekweazu.

The meeting which  falls in line with the Universal Health Preparedness Review, was attended by a cross section of members of government.

The Universal Health Preparedness scheme was set up by the WHO to help countries better prepare to face health challenges like the COVID19 pandemic that showed how important it is for every country to have a solid health system and high resilience to large-scale health outbreaks. this regard.

The working session between the Prime Minister – Head of Government and the deputy Director General of the WHO served to identify strategies to boost the health sector.

The discussions form part of a process which will take Cameroon’s strides to the global stage for peer review.

The Prime Minister assured the WHO official that the government of Cameroon is totally committed to improving access to basic health services to the population.
