The Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has called on young people to be ambassadors of cultural diversity and peace. She made this statement recently in Yaoundé at the National Museum, where she attended the award ceremony for winners of the national competition for peace building.

This project, initiated by the Cameroon National Commission for UNESCO (CNU), UNOPS, and the government of Cameroon, aims to reduce and prevent tensions and conflicts between displaced persons and host communities. Azoulay announced the extension of the project, along with the training of 500 peace educators.

The message of peaceful coexistence was conveyed through visual arts, music, dance, and theater. Cameroon’s rich cultural heritage was showcased in splendor, with the four cultural zones of the country prominently displayed at the event.

Also present at this celebration of Cameroon’s rich cultural heritage and diversity were the Minister of Arts and Culture, Pierre Ishmael Bidoung Kpwatt, and other senior members of the government.
