Team Work Equals Success

The strength of working as a team can never be underestimated.

Proof of this, Cameroon grabbed a bronze medal in team judo at the Games.

Georgika Djengue Moune on her part, succeeded to get a bronze medal.

Athletics Ignites Hope

Athletics did ignite hope in many Cameroonians as the first medal won by Cameroon at the 13th African Games was gold. Emmanuel Eseme Alobwede, overpowered hiw competitors and won a gold medal in men’s 100m.

Claude Emmanuel Itongue followed closely with a silver medal in men’s 200m.

Hope in athletics, however, dwindled at some point as the medals were not forthcoming.

Cameroon ended up with four bronze medals in athletics from Appolinaire Yinra in men’s long jump, Nora Monie in women’s discus throw, Linda Angounou in women’s 400m hurdles and Adele Mafogang in the heptathlon.

Mediocre Perfomance in Team Sports

Cameroon did not perform as expected in team sports.

After starting up the group stage in glory, the Handball Lionesses ended up with a bronze medal at the 13th African Games.

A sadder story for the Volleyball Lions who demonstrated prowess and fierceness at the group stages but ended up with nothing to show from the competition. They were thrashed at the semi finals of the competition.

In all, Cameroon occupies the 17th position at the 13th African Games, our of 53 countries that participated.
