AFCON 2025 : Cameroon Grabs Quarter final Ticket from South Africa

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have sailed through to the quarter final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, after beating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, by two goals to one at the Al Madina stadium in Rabat.

Cameroon joins Senegal, Mali and Morocco that have already qualified for the next stage of the competition.

According to the fixtures, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are scheduled to challenge the Atlas Lions of Morocco, at 8:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat.

At the close of this Sunday’s game, Cameroon’s midfielder, Carlos Baleba was named Man of the Match. He dedicated the trophy to his mother, and promised to work harder. He said the strength of the team is the result of teamwork with every player ready to assist the other.

During the post match press conference, coach Hugo Bross of South Africa, expressed disappointment with the defeat, but saluted the fighting spirit of the Indomitable Lions. He said the Cameroonian team could be the surprise of the AFCON.

Coach David Pagou of Cameroon, on his part saluted his players for the victory. He said for now, the team will savour the victory before looking at what strategy they would adopt against Morocco who is the super favourite, playing in front of their home crowd.

The lions chanted victory songs and danced as they walked out of the Al Madina stadium.
