AFCON 2025 : Indomitable Lions travel to Rabat

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are expected to fly to the Moroccan capital Rabat as from Friday January 2, 2025 ahead of their round of 16 match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Sunday January 4, 2025.

Rabat is situated some 540km from Agadir passing through Casablanca. The city of Rabat is said to have a classic Mediterranean climate, cooler and wetter than Agadir, where the Lions had been stationed for about two weeks.

The team is said to have enjoyed a calm day of rest marking the 2026 New Year feast.

The New Year celebration followed their victory over Mozambique that place at the second position in group F though having equal points as the title holders, Côte d’Ivoire at the top of the group.

The Indomitable Lions completed the group stage with seven points, winning two matches and drawing one, scoring four goals, conceding two goals.

During the post match press conference, Coach David Pagou said he told his players that the Head of State moved the time of his address by an hour because of the Indomitable Lions encounter, which is something unheard off. The players were so touched and they decided to make good of it during the match.

He also congratulated the players for the performance so far though he says they have to continue working hard in order to solve the equation of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa when they clash on January 4.

The players also shared a similar opinion when interviewed at the mixed zone.

Captain Nohou Tolo on his part assured Cameroonians that the pain suffered during the match was a sign of muscle fatigue but he’s getting over it.

The players said they are humble but focused, determined and motivated to win every match irrespective of the opponent.
