The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) will run on a budget of 3,498,000,000 FCFA ( three billion, four hundred and ninety-eight million) in 2025.
This represents an increase of 440 million FCFA from the previous budget.
According to the commission’s president, Peter Mafany Musonge, 2,978,000,000 FCFA ( two billion, nine hundred and seventy-eight million) will be allocated for operational costs, while 520,000,000 FCFA ( five hundred and twenty million) will be dedicated to investment purposes.
The budget was prepared in conformity with the provisions of Article 12 of Decree No. 2017/013 of January 23, 2017, which governs the creation, organization, and functioning of the NCPBM. It also adheres to the calendar established by Decree No. 2019/281 of May 31, 2019, which fixes the state budget calendar.
In 2025, the NCPBM plans to allocate 200 million FCFA to strengthen human resources and enhance the functioning of its regional branches. The commission’s plan of action for 2025 played a significant role in crafting the budget.
During the biannual meeting, President Peter Mafany Musonge emphasized the commission’s commitment to responsible budget management, stating that the NCPBM is dedicated to “respecting the strategic orientations and the measures to rationalize public spending, in order to give the principle of optimization of resources the place it deserves in budget management.”
The meeting was marked by the absence of Abouem a Tchoyi David, a member of the commission and renowned statesman, who passed away on January 15 at the age of 81. His colleagues paid tribute to his significant contributions to advancing the NCPBM’s mission.
