According to Robert Nkouamou, President of the Interprofessional Group of Printers of Cameroon, the primary objective of the press conference was to present the results of a major initiative launched in 2020. This initiative aimed to revamp the sector following a significant decline in performance.

In partnership with the government, the initiative focused on locally printing school textbooks. The Cameroon Interprofessional Group of Printers and Polygraphic Arts (GIPIAP) played a crucial role in this effort, representing printing and polygraphic arts businesses, identifying key challenges, and negotiating with partners.

The GIPIAP’s efforts have yielded significant results. A total of 1,772,000 booklets were printed and delivered on time and in good quality. The Prime Minister’s Office and the CNAMSMD expressed satisfaction with the performance of the local graphic industry.

According to the second Vice President of the association, Albert Ngang Nde, this achievement has boosted trust in the industry, with the MINEDUB extending its support. He said despite the enormous difficulties, they have worked to improve on the quality of their strategies. However, the GIPIAP acknowledges that there is still work to be done to reach 100% production. To address this, the group is advocating for the tax exemption of inputs, particularly paper.
