Richelle Soppi Mbella

The Cameroonian judo team is making waves at the Casablanca African Open, with four medals already secured. Anita Soppi Mbella and Carlos Ngueya led the charge, winning gold medals in their respective categories.

Soppi Mbella dominated the over 78kg category, while Vladimir Carlos Ngueya emerged victorious in the under 90kg category. Their impressive performances have put Cameroon judo firmly in the spotlight.

Zita Ornella Biami and Franck Ulrich Tahman Zan also made their mark, securing bronze medals in the women’s under-70kg and men’s under-100kg categories, respectively.

A Bright Future for Cameroon Judo

This impressive haul demonstrates the rapid ascent of judo in Cameroon. At 35, Richelle Soppi Mbella continues to defy age, adding another medal to her collection after narrowly missing out on the Olympic Games in Paris.

Carlos Ngueya’s exceptional talent and dedication have earned him a reputation as one of Cameroon’s top judokas. With athletes like Ngueya and Soppi Mbella leading the charge, Cameroon can expect many more titles in the world of judo.

The Casablanca African Open continues to showcase the best of African judo, and Cameroon’s impressive performance is a testament to the country’s growing strength in the sport.
