Children from orphanages, schools and those hospitalized at the Chantal Biya Foundation, have begun celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ as they received Christmas gifts from Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya this 23rd December.
About 1500 children had a chance to communion with the First Lady who once again honored her life-long commitment to the underprivileged during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaoundé.
Staff of the foundation, parents, government officials, CPDM party members and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
The recipients included Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), children from some schools in Yaoundé, and children hospitalized at the foundation.
“The gift of the First Lady has brought immense joy to me. I have never met her and I’m very happy to receive this gift,” one of the recipients said.
“This gift is a sign of love from the First Lady. I’m simply overjoyed,” another recipient of the Christmas gift from the First Lady told CRTV Web.
Cameroon’s First Lady Chantal Biya, has made it a yearly tradition to offer Christmas gifts to underprivileged children during Christmas.
This is the second time the First Lady is handing out Christmas gifts to children ahead of Christmas celebrations . The first Christmas gift offer held at “Les Coccinelles” school complex of the Unity Palace.
The First Lady Chantal Biya will end the series of Christmas tree lighting ceremonies at the Hospital Centre for Applied Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction (CHRACERH) on 24th December. Over 504 children conceived and born in the centre will receive Christmas gifts from the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
