CEMAC Leaders meet in Extraordinary Conference in Yaounde

Leaders of the Central Africa, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad have begun arriving in Cameroon ahead of the extraordinary Conference of the Heads of State of member of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, CEMAC.

The meeting is holding at the initiative of the President Paul BIYA of Cameroon and the current CEMAC President, Faustin Archange Touadera, of the Central African Republic.
The summit scheduled for Monday, 16th December 2024 at the Unity Palace in Yaounde come after the 15th Conference of CEMAC leaders organized in March 2023.

Arrivals of Heads of States in Yaounde

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso was the first to landed at the Yaounde, Nsimalen International Airport to represent his Head of State at the Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).

 

He was received upon arrival by Cameroon’s Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute.

The Gabonaise Transition President, Brice Oligui Nguema was next in line to arrive in Yaounde.

He was also received at the foot of the plan by the Prime Minister. The Gabonese leader was warmly welcomed by his country’s residents in Cameroon who turned out at Airport in Yaounde.

The Minister of State, Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economy of Chad, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, representing President Mahamat Idris Déby of Chad also arrived in Cameroon via the Nsimalen International Airport in Yaounde, ahead of the extraordinary CEMAC Summit.

He was received upon arrival by Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.

Upon arrival, the detachment of the Presidential Guard paid honours to each of the CEMAC leaders.

The military band also played the CEMAC anthem to each of the leaders.

Each of the visiting leaders communed with their populations that had out at the airport..

The three leaders took off for the Hilton where they would have temporal residence during the Extraordinary CEMAC Summit.

The leaders of Equatorial Guinea and the Central African Republic are expected to arrive on Monday 16th December 2024.

Stakes of the CEMAC Conference

The economic and monetary situation of the sub-region is facing disruptions. Some countries in the sub region have not implement the recommendations and commitments for their economic and monetary stability as resulted in Yaounde on 23 December 2016 when the sub region was in a similar situation.

During the extraordinary Summit of CEMAC in Yaounde, are expected to examine the situation and to take concerted decisions rescue their macro-economic aggregates.
