The various commissions responsible for organizing the 5th edition of the Youth Connect Cameroon Convention have evaluated their efforts and presented their action plans for the upcoming event, scheduled to take place from December 16 to 21, 2024. The meeting was chaired by Mounouna Foutsou, the Minister of Youth and Civic Education.
During the meeting, several commissions—including the Gastronomy, Logistics, Challenge, Scientific, Mobilization, Marketing and Finance, Cultural Activities, and Health Commissions—reported on their level of preparedness thus far. Minister Mounouna Foutsou provided strict recommendations to the Communication and Mobilization Commission to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place.
Flagship Activities of the Youth Connect Cameroon Convention
In alignment with the harmonized program, the Youth Connect Convention features the following main activities:
Entrepreneurial Challenges:A competition for young entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations.
Special Hangout:An interactive session between youth and government officials, centered around a theme related to the central topic of the Fair, aimed at promoting dialogue between young people and public decision-makers.
Conferences:Educational sessions addressing various topics of interest to youth.
Deployment of the National Program for Civic Education (PRONEC-REAMORCE):This initiative focuses on instilling civic and moral values among young people to strengthen their sense of belonging.
Training of Peace Ambassadors:A program dedicated to fostering peace and cultural activities.
Originally launched in Rwanda in 2012 as part of the country’s reconstruction following a significant sociopolitical crisis, the Youth Connect initiative is a collaborative effort between the government and the United Nations aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their participation in development. In Cameroon, this initiative was inaugurated on December 9, 2019, under the Very High Patronage of H.E. Mr. Paul Biya, the Head of State.
Objectives of the Youth Connect Convention
The overall objective of the Youth Connect Convention is to strengthen inter- and intra-generational dialogue while promoting talent and role models among young people.
Specific Objectives:
To facilitate the sharing of experiences and best practices among young Cameroonians from diverse backgrounds.
To promote values of citizenship, social cohesion, and participation in development among youth.
To highlight talents, role models, and success stories of young individuals.
