Cameroon’s National Assembly Partners with GIZ to Boost Agricultural Productivity and Food Security

In a significant move to address sustainable agriculture challenges and food security reforms, members of the National Assembly engaged in a productive exchange with German Cooperation GIZ. The working session, led by Hon. Emah Etoundi, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutritional Safety, was attended by Hon. Kombo Gberi, representing the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Strategic Partnership to Promote Agricultural Development

The Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutritional Safety has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIZ-AgSys, aiming to promote and regulate Cameroon’s agricultural framework. This partnership seeks to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector, ensuring food security and nutritional safety for its citizens.

Hon. Emah Etoundi emphasized that the partnership between the Alliance and GIZ aims to boost agricultural productivity and food security. This alignment is critical in addressing Cameroon’s agricultural challenges and promoting sustainable development.

Rico Langeheine, Country Director of GIZ Cameroon, noted that the partnership with the National Assembly is aligned with global efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition. This collaboration supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security, and improve nutrition.
