Producers and those involved in the transformation of maize, cassava and other crops in Cameroon are sure to see brighter days thanks to a convention signed for the retrocession of the Ebolowa Tractor Assembly Plant and its associated assets to the National Centre for Studies and Experimentation in Agricultural Mechanisation (CENEEMA).

The retrocession convention was signed between the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and CENEEMA.

Signing on behalf of CENEEMA, it’s Director General, Andrée Caroline Mebande Bate, says the convention will serve producers across the ten regions of Cameroon by boosting production.

She indicates that all they have to do is get to any of CENEEMA’s local branches and apply for any of the machines or equipment needed.

An evaluation will then be done to ascertain the need of the producer before validation.

The CENEEMA Boss adds that her company will also provide counselling on the kind of project to undertake so as to ensure profitability.

Chairing the event, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute emphasized that the retrocession is part of the fulfillment of President Paul Biya’s promise of modernizing agriculture in 2011 during the Agropastoral Show in Ebolowa.

Joseph Dion Ngute also thanked the High Commissioner of India to Cameroon for his country’s support towards achieving this dream of modernizing the agricultural sector in Cameroon.
