Cameroonians have welcomed the first couple in a festive atmosphere in Yaounde following their return to the country this Monday, October 21, 2024.
Delegations of CPDM supporters lined up along the streets of Yaounde by midday in wait for the President of the Republic Paul Biya and his wife Chantal Biya.
At about 4pm, the special flight having on board, the Presidential couple touched down at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.
At the foot of the plane was the Secretary General of the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngo Ngo and other state dignitaries who has turned out to welcome the President of the Republic from his visit to Europe.
Dance groups, CPDM supporters and other members of the public gathered at the airport to welcome the first couple in song and dance.
After a brief airport civility, the President of the Republic journeyed through the streets of Yaounde where the population most of whom were dressed the CPDM regalia had lined up.
They sang welcome songs, wave flags and mocked those that had spread rumors on the President’s state of health.
The chanting crowd wished many more years to their champion, who was elected to the helm of the State some 6 years ago by the majority of the Cameroonian people.
