Inhabitants of Akak and Soa as well as users of the North entrance into Yaounde will soon see better days as construction works on the stretch of road linking Akak to Soa have been launched.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Celestine Ketcha Courtes launched the works this 3rd October 2024 in Akak 1 in the Mefou and Afamba Division of the Center Region.
To concretize the launch of the construction works, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development signed a contract with Arab Contractors, the company charged with executing the project within a time frame of 25 months.
The project to cost over nine billion CFAF will be executed in three phases.
The first phase will last five months and involves preliminary works.
It will be followed by the second phase which concerns the stretch from Dispensaire Nkozoa to Carrefour Katanga.
The last phase will focus on the stretch from the Akak entrance to Carrefour Gendarmerie Soa.
While Minister Celestine Ketcha Courtes called on the residents of the area to cooperate towards the success of this project, the contractors promised to deliver the roads within the 25-month time frame.
