The 24th edition of the prestigious Grand Prix Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour is set to kick off on October 1, 2024, and will run until October 5, 2024. This year’s tour promises to be an exciting one, with 11 international teams from Africa and Europe competing in the five-day event.
New Additions to the Race Course
For the first time, the municipality of MINTA in the Centre Region will host the team presentation ceremony on September 30, 2024. The President of the Cameroon Cycling Federation, Honore Yossi, expressed his excitement about this new addition, saying, “We invite the elites and population of Minta to be actively involved in the preparations and successful race course.”
The Five-Lap Race Course
The race will cover a total distance of 655 km, divided into five laps:
1. Lap 1: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 – Nkoteng – Nanga-Eboko – Minta (100km)
2. Lap 2: Wednesday, October 2, 2024 – Yaounde – Ebolowa (150km)
3. Lap 3: Thursday, October 3, 2024 – Ebolowa – Mengong – Sangmelima (105km)
4. Lap 4: Friday, October 4, 2024 – Sangmelima – Nkpwang – Mvomeka’a – Meyomessala (145km)
5. Lap 5: Saturday, October 5, 2024 – Sangmelima – Yaounde (155km)
Egypt will make its debut appearance in the tour, joining other teams from Africa and Europe. The International Cycling Union has appointed Frenchman Philippe Lambert as the Commissioner of the race.
