University students across Cameroon have been encouraged to engage in entrepreneurship.
The call came from the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo this 24th September 2024, during the Private Higher Education Forum at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
With theme of focus, “The Establishment of Entrepreneurial Universities in the Private Higher Educational Sector in Cameroon”, the Minister and other university dons highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial ideas towards building Cameroon and Africa as a whole.
One of the panelists of the day, Charles Awono Onana, insists, “We must make entrepreneurship a national cause in the university…We should create a bank for education, financed by students… The banks will support innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Another panelist of the day from the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, on his part indicated that entrepreneurial education does not start in the University but before. He therefore pointed out the importance of partners who could assist in orientation and promotion of made in Cameroon products.
The day had as highpoint an exhibition of products and services of some Higher Education Institutes in Cameroon.
The day ended with the Higher Education Boss acknowledging the work of the students of the institutions and spurring them on.
