Minister Nalova Lyonga
The Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) has introduced a unique identifying number, known as a national matricule, for each student. This number will be used to pay tuition and examination fees in secondary schools across the country.
Information on the new payment process was revealed on August 1, 2024, during a session organized by Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, with partner operators. The ministry has partnered with operators to collect tuition and examination fees via various platforms.
How the System Works
The system allows parents or students to log in to the MINESEC online portal, “cartescolaire.cm”, to access their unique identifier. Students who registered last year will not need to enter additional information. The matricule will serve as a unique identifier, enabling them to make payments via MTN Mobile Money, CAMPOST, or Western Union.
Benefits of the System
The new system eliminates the need for schools to request lists of students who have paid fees. Principals or accountants can simply log in to the online platform to access a list of all students who have made payments.
Minister’s Statement
In an interview with CRTV on the 7:30 News, Minister Nalova Lyonga emphasized the importance of the unique identifier, stating, “It’s a simple operation, and we hope everyone will participate. Every stakeholder must understand its significance, as it follows students throughout the school year.”
The minister also reiterated that the unique identifier system ensures transparency, as “there are no interventions, and people do not touch the money. Any principal who touches money will face consequences.”
