Improving the living conditions of Cameroonians is at the heart the 13th Fair on Government Action, known by its French acronym, SAGO.
The annual event was launched on 22nd July at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex by the Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Head of Government.
Minister Sadi was accompanied at the launching ceremony by a host of government ministers, and other top ranking personalities who massively turned out for the event.
SAGO 2024 is taking place on the theme “ Governance and Improving the Living Conditions of Citizens,” and will run till 27th July 2024.
“By choosing to focus on governance and the well- being of citizens, SAGO 2024 is a prime opportunity for the government to explain the vital importance of implementing judicious and consistent governance, as one of the necessary, indispensable and even unavoidable conditions for improving people’s living conditions, to the general public, all partners and economic players involved,” the government spokesperson said .
About 245 exhibitors, including government structures, parastatals, and businesses are showcasing their products, services and job opportunities to visitors. Organizers say over 200,000 visitors are expected at this year’s fair.
For eight days, development partners, multinationals, government programmes, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and other partners to will make strides towards narrowing the gap between the government and Cameroonians.
SAGO 2024 Innovations
SAGO 2024 is marked by two major innovations : a forum on the modernization of public administration to be organized by the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, and a symposium on water and sanitation organized by Camwater.
Patrice Assiga, organizer of the yearly fair says “These innovations aim to deepen discussions on crucial topics for our collective future.”
Twelve captivating conferences moderated by high-level panelists, important information, interactive discussions and innovative presentations will be held during SAGO.
The Minister of Communication says achieving the National Development Strategy (SND30) is also of prime importance. This is one of government priorities exhibitors are looking to advance.
Every year, SAGO is organized to promote and give visibility to government action, inform stakeholders within and without Cameroon about national public policies, encourage people to support the actions taken by public authorities on their behalf, help implement the national inclusion policy advocated by the Government and contribute to strengthening the synergy of government’s efforts.
