Agritech Innovation: Cameroon launches Challenge for Afro-Pastoral Digital Transformation

The government of Cameroon has officially launched the first edition of the Agritech Innovation Challenge.

It is a national competition aimed at developing innovative digital solutions for the country’s agro-pastoral sector.

Applications can be submitted to www.aic.patnuc.cm, till August 20, 2024

The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the Ministers of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, alongside Agriculture and Rural Development(MINADER)Gabriel Mbairobi, Livestock, and Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA)Dr Taiga,Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP)Issa Tchiroma Bakary alongside the National Coordinator of the project for the Acceleration of the Digital Transformation of Cameroon Dr Windfred Mfuh.

Objectives of the Agritech Innovation Challenge

The Agritech innovation challenge is part of the broader Project for the Acceleration of Digital Transformation in Cameroon (PATNUC) initiative.

The challenge aims to create a momentum in the agro-pastoral sector,

promote digital inclusion, facilitate the use of digital agricultural solutions by actors in the Cameroonian agro-pastoral ecosystem and mobilize startups and digital solution providers.

Modalities of the challenge

Ten startups within the national triangle will participate in the challenge.

Also, the development and implementation of participants’ business plans will be supported by the PATNUC project.

The challenge will include a pitch competition, debates, and B2B fairs targeting the Cameroonian agro-pastoral ecosystem

Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria:

The digital solutions proposal submitted should address challenges faced by actors in agriculture, livestock, fishing, climate change adaptation, and agro-pastoral fintech industries.

Candidates will be evaluated based on eligibility, project relevance, and business plan relevance.

During the press conference, Minister Libom Li Likeng emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging digital transformation to modernize the agro-pastoral sector and create new economic opportunities for the country’s youth.
