The 2024 Cameroon International Tech Summit (CITS) ended on July 12, leaving a lasting impact on the country’s growing tech ecosystem.
The three-day event which held on the theme “Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability as tools to supercharge the National Economy“ brought together participants, including aspiring developers, tech entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and government officials, to advance digital innovation in Cameroon.
The summit’s centerpiece was a 48-hour hackathon, which permitted young people to form teams to tackle real tech challenges.
Participants worked round the clock to create prototypes of mobile apps, web platforms, and data analytics tools. They also sought to address issues related to healthcare access, financial inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Three hackathon teams were awarded prizes for their outstanding tech solutions. The winning teams will receive mentorship and funding to further develop their projects.
In addition to the hackathon, were keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking events that explored the latest trends and challenges in Cameroon’s tech landscape.
Topics ranged from the role of artificial intelligence in driving economic growth to strategies for fostering digital entrepreneurship.
“We believe that empowering young people to create digital solutions is crucial for building a thriving digital economy in Cameroon,” Ayuk Etta, Executive Director of Mountain Hub, and the organizer of the CITS told CRTV WEB.
The Cameroon International Tech Summit (CITS) is an annual solution-driven tech conference organized by Mountain Hub and its partners in Cameroon. It aims to leverage technological innovations, networking, thought-provoking conversations, and hackathons to solve pressing challenges and find sustainable solutions to modern-day technological problems in Cameroon and beyond, while brandishing the country as an emerging technology talent hub.
