The setting up of an incubator to encourage entrepreneurship and start-ups in the Higher Teachers’ Technical Training College (HTTTC) Ebolowa is on a good footing thanks to a subvention worth 70 million CFAF from the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA).

The deal was sealed as the MINPMEESA Boss, Achille Bassilekin III signed a partnership accord with the Rector of the University of Ebolowa, where the HTTTC is lodged, Prof Jean Bosco Etoa Etoa, this 20th June, 2024.

According to the agreement, MINPMEESA will technically, institutionally and financially accompany HTTTC Ebolowa in setting up its incubator as well as senstising youths towards taking up entrepreneurial engagements.

On her part, HTTTC Ebolowa has the task of guiding students towards engaging in entrepreneurship, setting up the incubator and doing follow-up of projects so as to report to the Ministry of SMEs.

This present partnership, it should be noted, is one of many brokered by the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises with state universities towards promoting entrepreneurship and the idea of creating incubators.

Between 2016 and 2022, the Ministry granted subventions worth over two billion CFAF to incubators within state universities in Cameroon.

In 2023, the Ministry gave about 300 million CFAF-worth subventions to state universities and professional schools in Cameroon.

In 2024, MINPMEESA hopes to provide subventions worth 214 million CFAF to some universities and professional schools across the country.
