Students in the final year of primary education in the French subsystem of education will know their fate in their final exam in under 48 hours.

The Inspector-General of Education at the Ministry of Secondary Education, Jean Paul Marcelin Mebada, emphasised on this during a visit to some schools in the Mefou and Akono Division of the Centre Region this 14th May, 2024 to evaluate the unfolding of the Concours d’Entrée en Première Année de l’Eseignement Technique and the Concours d’Entrée en Sixième de l’Enseignement Général in the French subsystem of education.

The Inspector-General and his team started off their visit at Government Bilingual Technical High School (GBTHS) Mbankomo, then Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Mbankomo and finally, Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Mbalngong.

At all these schools, the exams were going on hitch-free but for a few absences and some pupils who came to write the exam but had not been duely registered.

Jean Paul Marcelin Mebada also took time to check the toilets at the various exam centres to ensure they are clean and comfortable enough for the pupils.

Where he was not satisfied, he gave instructions to the Chief of Centres to ensure the toilets are tidied up and labeled “Girls Only” / “Boys Only”.

Ensuring that food on sale is clean and appropriate for the pupils was another point the delegation focused on.

The emissaries from the Ministry of Secondary Education insisted that vendors sell in clean environments, dressed up in their robes as they ought to.

After visiting each Centre, the Inspector-General lauded Chiefs of Centres’ efforts in ensuring that invigilators put on identification badges.

He also took time to explain that all those involved in invigilating and marking the exam will be paid at once as prescribed by the Minister of Secondary Education.
