Nabeba Iron Ore Project: Ready… Go!

The Nabeba Iron Ore Project is technically ready. A ceremony to launch it took place in Souanke, Congo on 8th May 2024 in the pesence of Congolese Minister of State for Mining Industries and Geology, Pierre Oba and Cameroon’s Transport Minister, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe and Interim Minister Of Mines, Fuh Calistus Gentry. 

This subregional project is expected to generate proceeds estimated at 25 billion dollars in the first five yars of exploitation and create more than 22,000 jobs for both countries.

The mineral will be transported to the Kribi Mineral Terminal by rail long by 680 km meanwhile 540 km of rail lines will be constructed in Cameroon.

The expertise of a consortium was sought to execute the works which is the first of such mining ventures in the sub region.

The Mbalam – Nabeba Iron Ore project is expected to effectively kick of by the end of 2025 making it the fifth iron ore production pool in the world.
