One-time Minister of Basic Education (2004 to 2009) and Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Education (2000 to 2004), Haman Adama, died on 29th April 2024 and has been buried this 30th April.
78-year-old Haman Adama will be remembered as one who fought to empower her people of the Benue Division in Garoua with education.
The Lamido of Garoua, Ibrahim El Rachine, confirmed this minutes after the former Minister was buried at the Nkolfoulou Municipal Cemetery.
He encouraged elites of the Benue to remember to uphold education as the late Minister.
Speaking on behalf of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), the Assistant Secretary General of the Central Committee of the party, Grégoire Owona, hailed the fallen militant for her devotedness.
Born on 10th June 1946 in Garoua, Haman Adama will also be remembered for her counsel, especially to persons like Yaouba Abdoulaye, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance.
She was also a mother figure to many like her nephew, Abdoul Kassimi who says many at her cabinet affectionately called her “La Mama”.
Haman Adama born as Halimatou Mahonde leaves behind her husband and four children.
