US Ambassador, Janet Garvey bids farewell to Cameroonian authorities

The head of the diplomatic mission of the United States of America to Cameroon, Janet Elizabeth Garvey has come to the end of her mission. The out going ambassador was received in audience by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril in Yaounde over the weekend.

During the close to 30 minutes audience, the House Speaker and the diplomat discussed on a wide range of issues including bilateral relations between Cameroon and the USA. They also discussed at length on modalities for the putting in place of the SENAT; the second chamber of parliament.

Janet Elizabeth Garvey and Cavaye Yeguie Djibril reviewed the electoral system and the structures put in place to ensure transparent and democratic elections in the country.

The Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguié Djibril also outlined to his host some of the challenges faced by the youths including high levels of unemployment and the need for socio-economic empowerment.

At the end of the audience, the outing going US diplomat expressed satisfaction with the frank discussions and for taking part in working sessions at the National Assembly during her stay in Cameroon.

She also saluted the hospitality of Cameroonian while reaffirming America’s interest in providing multi dimensional assistance to Cameroon.

Janet Elizabeth Garvey who comes to the end of her mission to Cameroon after three years in the country took over from Niels Marquadt.
