23/07/2010 The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Alain Mebe Ngo’o has underlined the efforts of the American government in the fight against HIV/AIDS and avian influenza in the Central African sub region, particularly among the military corps.
Minister Alain Mebe Ngo’o was speaking as he received in audience the different partners involved in research projects on emerging diseases.
He expressed the wish that the activities of CRESA, be extended to other diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and yellow fever.
Mebe Ngo’o also called on the partners to train more personnel of the military corps on research and peer education and also to invest on the building of more laboratories.
The sub regional conference on military health services in central Africa has organised to discuss the challenges, strategies and policies on the prevention and surveillance of the human influenza, HIV/AIDS and its impact on military health.
Military health officers from six countries of the central African sub-region are taking part in the meeting in Yaounde to coordinate their activities against emerging diseases such as AIDS and avian flu and to respond to epidemics
